Outlook Rules - Moving E-Mails to a specific folder in Outlook

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to move an email to a specific folder automatically using an Outlook Rule. We will use the "Biweekly Email from the Dean" as the example here.

Steps:

  1. Highlight the Biweekly Email from the Dean email newsletter. Right+click and Select Rules->Create Rule


  2. Check the box for Subject contains and Move the item to Folder


  3. A Box will come up to create a new folder to move any email that the Subject contains, "Biweekly Email from the Dean" to a specific folder. You may choose an existing folder or create a New folder.


  4. Example: Create a new folder with the Name: Biweekly Email from the Dean. Click OK when done. Remember to select where you want to place the new folder, the default is Inbox.
  5. Press OK when done.
