Teams: How to Merge/Unmerge the Chat/Teams Icons

Overview

Microsoft Teams recently had an update, which caused the Chat and Teams icons to merge together. This new view merges your Chats and Teams channels all into one tab and removes the Teams icon from the navigation bar.  

This article will walk you through the steps to separate the Chat/Teams icons in Teams.

How to Unmerge the Chat/Teams Icons

1. Select the "3 dots" on the top right of the Teams app (next to your profile picture), then select "Settings"
   
2. Select the "Chats and Channels" tab, then select the "Separate" option
   (This will separate the views and make Chats and Channels into their own icon)
   

3. From here, your Teams view will update, and you'll see the "Chat" and "Teams" icon unmerged in the navigation bar!
