Convening Stairs

Overview:

The Convening Stairs is a large cascading theater space near the lobby of the School of Medicine.  It is designed in a way where it can operate either as a single large space or be combined with the Lobby for a more public display.

This space has a single projector, two cameras, and nine available microphones, and can also be configured to be part of a larger audio envelope that would include Flex A, Flex B, and the Lobby for speakers and events that are spread throughout the first floor.

This article provides a brief outline of the technology available in the space along with the names and locations of specific items.  This will be a living document, expanding to encompass not only the equipment within the room but also documentation on best practices and uncommon configurations as well.

 

Event Compatibility:

Transmit Audio to External Audience: YES - Dedicated clip-ons, handhelds, and podium mic

Transmit Video to External Audience: YES - Wall cameras and podium webcam

Display Materials on Internal Screens: YES - Dedicated screen

Capture Live Audio - YES - Audio Cart

 

Microphones:

  • 3 Handheld Microphones (6 when combined with Lobby)
  • 1 Clip-on Microphones (2 when combined with Lobby)
  • 1 Podium Microphone (Stationary)

Microphone Locations:

  • Podium
    • Gooseneck mic on the podium (w/ a Mute button)
    • 3 handheld mics in the podium cabinet
    • 1 clip-on mics in the podium cabinet
  • Tech Bar
    • 2 additional handheld mics
    • 2 additional clip-on mics

Projector Screens:

  • 1 Projector screen in front of the stairs (2 when combined with Lobby)

Cameras:

  • 2 room cameras are available
  • A USB webcam located in the podium cabinet can also be connected to the podium PC
